Boston, Lincolnshire food market
Before leaving the UK in a days time I thought I would share a wee post of the local food market in the town where my Grandparents and most of my family live. Boston Lincolnshire it's a mid size market town, surrounded by one of the largest agricultural areas in the UK so much of the produce is locally grown.
Fresh Brussels sprouts
Pheasants
This local butcher shop is famous for Boston sausage a delicious sausages full of herbs and flavor I have sadly never found anything like it in the states and folks come from all over for them.
We snacked on warm sausage rolls as we walked through the town it's been snowing in England and its quite chilly.
Boston stump a famous church built in 1300s
Love this door
The wee man playing with my other Grandmas teapots ;-)
We also took my grandma out for tea at an old hotel in woodhall spa with my Mum and Dad. She is pretty much home bound now and my Granddad is on dialysis we drove to visit him in hospital he's ok though.
All in all it's been amazing adventure and a joy to see all the family but we are exhausted and the kids are worn out I think. Time to head home :-)
Looking forward to being back on my laptop and visiting all your blogs
Much love and thanks for traveling with us :-)
Love Rebecca

DeleteI know about Lincolnshire, but never been up there. Beautiful photos and I laughed at the one with your "wee man". Last night my wife and I had her family over and we played a video of my son aged 3 dancing his head off to the sound of Cuban music. And me singing in the background (I wasn't impressed at all and wanted the clip to end more than my son, who is fifteen now, did! :-D). Great post. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteGreetings from London.

DeleteMarkets are the best!

DeleteLovely photos of the original Boston! Sounds like you have managed to get around all the family even with the inclement weather in the UK. As they say, it's very nice to go travelling but it's oh so nice to come home ;-)

DeleteTravel is exhausting! I'm sure it's been another wonderful adventure but the home and bed are a welcome retreat after a long travel. Getting to see you parents and grands must have been wonderful!

DeleteThe market and town enchants. Love travelling with you. And you are so brave - trekking with two young kids - although I think they learn to love it. And what wonderful childhood memories they will have - carved in cement out of love.
ReplyDeleteoh thanks we hope so and unfortunately we have to make long trips as the family is far away
DeleteOMG Rebecca. My grandparents lived in Sleaford, not far from Boston. I went there when we'd go and visit them MANY MANY moons ago and to this day, have a key chain with an image of Boston stump on it. (they've long passed away, but it reminds me of them) I loved this post, it took me right back to my grandparent's place. There is nothing like little European market towns!!! Thanks for sharing your journey with us. Hugs.
