Cardamom and Date Scones






These scones are so much fun they are inspired by a latte I had recently, they are easy to make and the flavor combination is perfect. 

Cardamon and date scones 

Ingredients

* 350g self-raising flour, plus more for dusting
* 1 tsp baking powder
* 85g butter, cut into cubes
* 3 tbsp caster sugar
* 175ml milk
* beaten egg, to glaze
* 3 ground cardamom pods (or a genius pinch of ground cardamon, this really is to taste) remove outer layer and a tablespoon of sugar mix together 
* 4 chopped dates coated with some of the cardamom / sugar mix


Method
  1. Heat the oven to 220C/200C , 400F 
  2. Add the butter to the flour, salt and baking powder, then rub in with your fingers until the mix looks like fine crumbs. Stir in the caster sugar.

  3. Warm the milk in the microwave for about 30 secs slowly add to flour until you get a sticky dough add in dates add to a floured surface and gently roll, use a cookie cutter and put on a baking sheet. Spread the egg on top. Sprinkle cardamom and sugar to the top
  4. Bake for 10 min until risen and golden on top 
  5.  Enjoy with clotted cream and jam with a cup of tea.
