Cardamom and Date Scones
These scones are so much fun they are inspired by a latte I had recently, they are easy to make and the flavor combination is perfect.
Cardamon and date scones
Ingredients
* 350g self-raising flour, plus more for dusting
* 1 tsp baking powder
* 85g butter, cut into cubes
* 3 tbsp caster sugar
* 175ml milk
* beaten egg, to glaze
* 3 ground cardamom pods (or a genius pinch of ground cardamon, this really is to taste) remove outer layer and a tablespoon of sugar mix together
* 4 chopped dates coated with some of the cardamom / sugar mix
Method
- Heat the oven to 220C/200C , 400F
- Add the butter to the flour, salt and baking powder, then rub in with your fingers until the mix looks like fine crumbs. Stir in the caster sugar.
- Warm the milk in the microwave for about 30 secs slowly add to flour until you get a sticky dough add in dates add to a floured surface and gently roll, use a cookie cutter and put on a baking sheet. Spread the egg on top. Sprinkle cardamom and sugar to the top
- Bake for 10 min until risen and golden on top
- Enjoy with clotted cream and jam with a cup of tea.
